2024 Season
I am starting to make plans, can anyone tell me which game is going to be Homecoming? Also I am assuming the game against Maine will be Gold Rush and played at night.

Re: 2024 Season
Homecoming hasn't been announced yet. My guess would be Oct. 5 against UNC, although the volleyball team would also be home the next weekend when football hosts Idaho. I'd assume you are correct about the Gold Rush game!

Yeah, first home game is always Gold Rush. I purchased my hotel rooms months ago.

I would guess UNC for Homecoming simply because it's an easier opponent.
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

Re: 2024 Season
Correct, that is because MSU's opener against New Mexico is one of four "Week 0" games this year. A second bye week will certainly be useful especially given the 12-game regular season schedules this year.

Three if you count the week after Cat\Griz, and then four if you count the week or two before Frisco. lol

Re: 2024 Season
The schedule is infinitely better than last year. That’s by default, I guess, because last year’s was about as bad as a schedule could possibly be. )No, I’m not solely blaming the 2023 schedule on the outcome of the season.)
MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Yep. I know I've said this a couple times but I'm going to state my prediction again. Cat\Griz will be for the Big Sky title and likely #1 or #2 seed guaranteeing home field throughout playoffs. REALLY glad it's in Bozeman this year.

Re: 2024 Season
Many of us have been looking forward to 2024 and it looks like it will not disappoint. This team looks so strong and deep. Not perfect but it doesn't need to be. While I don't expect them to go undefeated (that is very difficult to do) there is not a game on their schedule they cannot win. So much Senior leadership! That alone can carry the team to many wins.

Re: 2024 Season
Great post. I agree - I wouldn't be shocked if we went 12-0... but that is very hard to do. My gut tells me we're looking at 10-2 or 11-1 when the regular season dust settles.gtapp wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 12:24 amMany of us have been looking forward to 2024 and it looks like it will not disappoint. Seems like there’s always that out of sink “Idaho type” game and an injury laden game that could produce 1-2 losses.catatac wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 11:49 amGreat post. Yep. Looking at the schedule got me thinking about something. How long has it been since we beat an FBS school? I know we've been sooooo dang close several times but it seems like it's been forever. I'm guessing there's been one since Colorado but that's the last one I can remember. Golden opportunity to get that monkey off the back against New Mexico in the season opener, and I would think we'll probably be favored in that game.Bocephus wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 1:12 pmSeems like there’s always that out of sink “Idaho type” game and an injury laden game that could produce 1-2 losses.catatac wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 11:49 amGreat post. Re: 2024 Season
Yeah, pretty sure it was Colorado in 2006. Had some really close ones against Wazzu, Idaho, SMU, Wyoming, plus some blowouts. Every one of those close ones stung, but none more than SMU. McGhee was never the same after that game.catatac wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 9:03 pmYep. Looking at the schedule got me thinking about something. How long has it been since we beat an FBS school? Re: 2024 Season
Back to the original question, I received an e-mail from the Alumni Foundation indicating they are planning for Homecoming Week to be Sept. 30 - Oct. 5th, meaning the Northern Colorado game on the 5th is the date. Hope this link works:

Re: 2024 Season
Good as he was, DM cost us that game. While in fg range, he scrambled for around a 20 yard loss on 3rd down rather than throwing the ball away. Took us out of fg range. It's been a long time ago for my memory, but I think he got hurt on a subsequent drive as time ran out - one that would have been unnecessary had we scored the field goal. Of course we would have had to make the FG, but seems like we had some pretty good kickers back in those days.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 9:09 amYeah, pretty sure it was Colorado in 2006. Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14.

Re: 2024 Season
Just to give everyone a quick visual reference.....
2024 BOBCAT SCHEDULE
Aug 24 @New Mexico
Aug 31 @Utah Tech
Sep 7 Maine
Sep 14 Stephen F Austin
Sep 21 BYE
Sep 28 @Idaho State
Oct 5 UNC
Oct 12 Idaho
Oct 19 @PSU
Oct 26 BYE
Nov 2 @EWU
Nov 9 Sac St
Nov 16 @UC Davis
Nov 23 gris
https://msubobcats.com/sports/football/schedule/2024
FYI, not only is this season a 12 game season, but it includes 2 BYE weeks. Next year, 2025 is also a 12 game season but with the usual 1 BYE week. One thing that is disappointing about each of these seasons is that of our 4 OoC games, only 2 are at home. I would have thought that since MSU gets 20k+ fans/game that especially on 12 game seasons we'd be able to have 3 out of 4 OoC games in Bozeman......oh well.
I think the back-back 12 game seasons have to do with Thanksgiving occurring as late as it ever does....Nov 28th this year and Nov 27th next year, which allows for an extra week between Labor Day and Thanksgiving. FYI, general opener for deer & elk is also late......Oct 26th this year.
Next year we open with @Oregon Ducks followed by South Dakota State in Bozo......that'll be a hellava Gold Rush game!
GO CATS!!!

Re: 2024 Season
Personally I'm just fine with the 6 home/6 away schedules for 2024 and 2025. It costs a lot of money to be a Bobcat football fan these days and something tells me that MSU Athletics wouldn't institute a "buy 6, get one free" policy for season tickets for a potential seventh home game!

Re: 2024 Season
Agreed. UM is thumping its chest about all their home games and it's going to become unaffordable for some. Maybe if they have a long waitlist for season tickets it's OK to price some folks out of the market. As for me, I live close enough and can get to Bozeman and back on a Saturday so it's not too terrible. I used to live in the Flathead and every home game was expensive. Add two more and I might have had to make some decisions. I think you have to be really careful about loading up a home schedule...it's a pretty presumptuous move.MSU01 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 10:32 amPersonally I'm just fine with the 6 home/6 away schedules for 2024 and 2025.
