Re: Depth chart for Texas Tech
I'm very surprised about Kanow not being on the list. He was one of our better LBs last year when healthy. I can see Hill and Askelson starting ahead of him, but to not even make the 2 deep?? Surely he must be dinged up or something.

I’m surprised, in a very good way, that Scrempos is ahead of Benson. That’s good because Benson is very good and that position is now very solid considering how much the tackles rotate. This defense.
Also there are two returning starters on defense not starting. That’s how deep the defense is.

Huh, it's pronounced "Bombin'" not "Bow-min". Well I've been saying it wrong this entire time

That was my thoughts, too. Considering what Benson did to Cy Sirmon.iaafan wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 7:18 amI’m surprised, in a very good way, that Scrempos is ahead of Benson. Re: Depth chart for Texas Tech
Observations;
• Out of 29 Offensive players listed only 5 are SR’s…..3 starters--2 of which are WR’s
• Out of 27 Defensive players listed 11 are SR’s.…..7 starters--3+ of which are on the DL along with both Safeties
• 3 out of 4 starters on the DL are UW transfers
• For the 3rd year in a row I believe, there is only 1 Senior on the OL
• At 1 corner we have a SR/JR, at the other we have a SO/RF
• 8 out of 10 Specialists positions are SR’s
• Out of 9 LB’s listed(3 per each position), none are duplicated
• Our QB weighs more than 8 out of our top 9 LB’s
• No Deines, Kanow, Perry, Yates
• On the list; RF McElroy @ RT & RF Byron Rollins @ DE, RF Askelson starting Mike
• As others have noted….Chase Benson is not a starter….WOW are we deep on the DL
• Marcus Ferriter is #2 at two positions on the DL (tackle & end)
• Out of 29 Offensive players listed only 5 are SR’s…..3 starters--2 of which are WR’s

Re: Depth chart for Texas Tech
By far the most interesting thing about this depth chart is that Kyle Finch is 6'4" when he plays defense, and grows an inch to 6'5" when he snaps the ball.

Same with Willie Patterson. Willie gains an inch in height and 15 pounds in weight when he switches from receiver to punt returner.BLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 9:41 amBy far the most interesting thing about this depth chart is that Kyle Finch is 6'4" when he plays defense, and grows an inch to 6'5" when he snaps the ball.

Man, I hope you're right, and I definitely think that's a possibility for all our games minus TT. I hope our secondary holds up and we don't allow this game to become a blowout. Would be nice having Munchie playing in this one considering this is the most powerful passing attack we'll see all year, BY FAR.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 9:15 amPrecisely. Re: Depth chart for Texas Tech
This is the first time in a long time that so many starters actually have to defend their starting position week after week, and the depth is so deep that the starter could be any one of 3 players. This is looking like the FBS.....with 63 players. This "culture" that Choate has developed is something different from what we have ever seen at MSU. This is more like Urban Meyer's beginning at Utah.

UC Davis will be good, but they won't be anything like Texas Tech. Especially with Doss gone at WR.grizzh8r wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 7:28 pmUC Davis won't be far behind...catatac wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 2:20 pmMan, I hope you're right, and I definitely think that's a possibility for all our games minus TT. Re: Depth chart for Texas Tech
Like I said earlier, awesome to see a problem with having 99+ players on the roster fighting for position and playing time. And the only, cross my fingers, injured we are talking about are folks we talked about as hurt before summer player led practice and high school seniors. Oh yeah, "HOWDY!!!"Helcat72 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 8:19 pmThis is the first time in a long time that so many starters actually have to defend their starting position week after week, and the depth is so deep that the starter could be any one of 3 players. Munchie Filer's injury was during fall camp. We dont know when he will be good to go. Hopefully he is back quickly.Montanabob wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 8:54 pmLike I said earlier, awesome to see a problem with having 99+ players on the roster fighting for position and playing time.
