Would Lulay be the best example of a freshman with a strong team behind him? For sure the most recent. The line, running back and defense where all above average in the league. Especially considering all time leaders, Ryan Johnson, Kane Ioane, Bobby Daly just to name a few
That 2002 season still makes me smile when I think about it. The controversial loss to ISU in Lulay's first start, the end of game face mask penalty against Sac State that allowed MSU to win the game with no time on the clock, and the epic snowy Cat-Griz game with the Junior Adams catch.
