Stats poll

I think 14 is a good spot. Interesting to see SEMO 3 spots behind and Montana sneak in at 25.

As usual the voters love the Griz. I'm surprised Incarnate Word and Western Illinois are as low as they are also.

Re: Stats poll
The article is new today and I think they updated the poll because I don't remember being 14 before.

Re: Stats poll
looks pretty solid to me. Top 15 is about where I would put this team... If we had an established/solid QB then top 10, flirting with top 5.... but at this point that is a complete unknown (and obviously a very important, key position).
Sounds like we could legitimately have one of the best Defenses in the country. Really excited to watch these guys!

Personnel wise I think so- have a rookie defensive coordinator- might be some growing pains

Re: Stats poll
That's a good place to start. If you start outside the top 25, it takes a nearly perfect season to work your way up to a number good enough to get a playoff seed. If you start in the top 10, it can be hard to live up to the expectations, as we saw with MSU a few years back. This ranking gives the team a little bit to prove and that's a good thing for a group of guys as motivated as this team seems to be. We can say all we want that polls don't matter, but they matter like crazy.
I'm good with UM being in there, and in fact I think they'll finish in the top 20 pretty easily. As somebody mentioned, they have a good QB, and improved Defense, a coach with a year under his belt, and as much as I hate to say it, that stadium is usually worth a win or two per year that they didn't deserve. I think they'll get in the playoffs despite a loss in the last regular season game in Bozeman.

Re: Stats poll
14 is good, the only team ranked above us is UCD and ti think when that times comes things will be different, (I'm not a Hawkins fanboy so am not convinced that they are so great yet)
We have a favorable schedule and should be able to slowly clime as the season progresses. SEMO will be our first good test, thankfully it is at home, at night, with a Gold Rush crowd to help.

Re: Stats poll
Ya, think so. UCD is above us, as well as EWU and Weber, and that's the way it should be. All three of those teams are better than us right now until we prove they aren't.Cataholic wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:48 pmI think he is referring to who is on our scheduleMontanabob wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:31 pmwhat poll are you reading? 3 BSC teams ahead of us.cats2506 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 12:16 pm14 is good, the only team ranked above us is UCD and ti think when that times comes things will be different, (I'm not a Hawkins fanboy so am not convinced that they are so great yet)

Re: Stats poll
I saw a poll of the top 50 guitarists of all time and Joe Satriani and Eddie Van Halen weren’t on it, so...
MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Re: Stats poll
I think they will be solid too, Sneed is a damn good qb. They don’t return every starter though. Curran graduated, Buss graduated, couple of Safeties and a couple of DL graduated too. They return a lot but not everyoneAnacomando wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 7:02 pmI completely agree: 22 starters return: they should be ranked!

Re: Stats poll
I have to agree with you guys - The should have some improvement along their OL too which was a big part of their production in the second-half issues last year. It wasn't like they were an easy win for us either!RobertCats wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 7:22 pmI think they will be solid too, Sneed is a damn good qb. They don’t return every starter though. Re: Stats poll
Not to derail the thread but - WHAT poll was this??? It's not even arguable that EVH is not one of the top 10, let alone 50, guitarists.
