I believe the young man's coach is Randy Cornwell who played quarterback for Western Montana. It's quite possible Randy knows coach Choate

Choate likes quarterbacks and finds many of them can pick up other positions easily. Knight looks like he’s spent time working on his game. Probably quite capable of playing linebacker or safety. Reminds me of Eureka’s Garrett Graves, who was also a state champion wrestler/quarterback.
Not sure it's fair to compare the kid to Graves.

Graves is a fantastic athlete who could start at multiple positions. A mini-Troy Andersen if you would.

I'd say, not nearly as talented at TA but point taken.

City college in missoula has been trying to find their version of TA, it's not happening

Plus, that's too much pressure on players, it might force them to give up the sport

Nothing against Graves. There’s not a mini-Troy Andersen in the Big Sky Conference.

Poor man's TA maybe. I think the point is, he's a similar type of athlete, while not nearly as good. Graves should be a really good player for them though, I wish he was playing for the good guys.

Graves 2X state Class B football champ at QB; Andersen 2X state Class A champ at QB: Knight 1X state football champ at QB.

Graves 2X state wrestling champ at 182: Andersen didn’t wrestle; Knight 1X state wrestling champ and 1X runnerup at 182.

Graves qualified for state in three events; Andersen won the 100 and 200 two years straight. Knight didn’t do track. (Graves best 200 is over 1.5 seconds behind Andersen).

Graves didn’t play basketball. Andersen 2X state Class A champ. Knight didn’t play basketball.

Graves is 6-3, 196; Andersen is 6-3, 215; Knight is 6-2, 195.

I was trying to refer to him as a much lesser version without being rude.

That’s my fault. I compared Knight to Graves, who others compare to Andersen. I don’t think it’s fair to compare either to Andersen. He’s just on another level.

Knight and Graves are the same size and excelled at the same sports (both quarterbacks in football; both 182 in wrestling). Graves won more championships, but Knight played at a bigger school. I guess some don’t like the comparison, but it’s an easy one to make. Graves being highly touted in Montana and Knight being a relative unknown probably plays into that.

Choate has been really good at finding talent all over the place. Great recruiter and obviously trains his staff well in this area.
