We have had amazing luck with our broadcast teams over the years. Hopefully these teams can continue that tradition.

We know all about Jason and Dan, here is a little reel of Zach. Seems like a young dude, has some potential for sure. He seemed like a natural at calling baseball, I can see why Iowa/Learfield put him there.

Wonder why he would leave Iowa for here? He graduated from Iowa and it seems like he is already doing play by play there. Can we pay more? Does he want to do men's sports exclusively? Maybe he wants back into football? Bozeman is certainly more beautiful than Iowa. Whatever the reason he sounds good and seems like a good choice.

Who was the color analyst last year on the broadcasts? Was it Jason? I quit listening to the radio broadcast after one game I felt the color analyst was horrible and out of sync with the games. My impression of his commentary was a true lack of football knowledge and how game situations impacted the flow. I hope this isn't one and the same. I guess I miss Dan D. in the booth he was far more adept at pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of both teams.

I didn’t listen to much radio do to the amount of work it took to sync with my streaming of the games. But I believe Jay was play by play, Jason was color and Dan D was on the sidelines.

The way I read the release is that Jason will pickup football and Bobcat Insider podcasts in addition to calling WBB. So the way I understand the breakdown is as follows;

Football
Play-By-Play: Jason Alvine
Color: Zach Mackey
Sideline: Dan Davies

Men's Basketball
Play-By-Play: Zach Mackey
Color: Brian Priebe

Women's Basketball
Play-By-Play: Jason Alvine
Color: ?????

Bobcat Insider TV/Podcast & Cat Chat Host
Jason Alvine

I could be wrong though.......

Thanks, RobertCats. That's how I read it, also. Then I started thinking how much the basketball and football (+playoffs) seasons overlap.

Zach reminds me a bit of NAU's Mitch Strohman (Arguably the best commentator in the Big Sky Conference).

Is that the guy who says "three-shot, BANG!" for a made 3-pointer? I always found that incredibly annoying...

In his interview Zack Mackey was quoted as having said this:
"I just made my first visit to Montana and the mountains are beautiful, I love to ski and there are plenty of great areas to do that. I didn't like that when I was there I saw a lot of snow and it was still snowing."
Whenever someone says they love skiing but not a lot of snow it makes me suspicious. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on it this time because I don't know for sure when he was here and yes there is a time of year it needs to stop snowing so we can do the other things we like to do in the mountains of Montana.

Welcome to MSU Zack.

Strange that he is going to work at both MSU and back home in Iowa. I can’t see that working out for long.
