Just thought it was interesting the amount of FBS coaches that Orphey started following. Could be nothing.
It also looks like the assist. FB coach position, posted on the MSU jobs page, is no longer listed. Maybe an announcement soon?

That would be shocking if he does leave not by choice...

That should get things buzzing around here for some off-season discussion.

I'm sure plenty of Griz fans would go from saying "we didn't want him anyway" to saying "he was the greatest DC ever and the Bobcats are doomed now".

If Kane is in sole control, I'm all for it. No Marshall muddying the water. 2 coordinators on the same side of the ball does not work for us.

Also I think he'd be more successful in Choate's program where Defense is more of a priority. You have to think he's a person other programs will be looking at if Peterson likes him enough to keep him on board. He's a great Bobcat who gets MSU football, gets Montana, gets Cat-Griz, and seems to know a thing or two about coaching. I'd be good with him getting his second chance now.technoCat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 5:38 pmIf Kane is in sole control, I'm all for it. True I'm just not sold on his DC abilities. But his time at Washington has probably showed him a lot and it could be a great move. I'd personally prefer a DC with a good amount of DC experience though.technoCat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 5:38 pmIf Kane is in sole control, I'm all for it. I like Ione but he needs some time coaching other positions before he can make the move to DC.

Kane has been coaching since 2005. Now had a year with Kwiatkowsky. Closer to 40 than 30. Bobcat great. Yeah, I'd be fine with Kane as DC.

I agree that if it is Kane (or anyone else) he should have full control. Same is true on the other side of the ball. Armstrong does not belong in the room.technoCat wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 5:38 pmIf Kane is in sole control, I'm all for it. Re: Winter questions/rumors/info.
Matt Miller does have full control and had since his first game against Idaho State. Armstrong was up in the box with him strictly as a second set of eyes. Matt called every play.imacat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 1:42 amI agree that if it is Kane (or anyone else) he should have full control. Same is true on the other side of the ball. As far as a Co-Coordinator role, judgement shouldn't be based off the disaster that was the Marshall/Ioane combo or even the Cole/Armstrong setup. Co-coordinators can work as long as their is trust between the men running the operation. Those two I listed lacked trust and were not on the same page in how they envisioned their side of the ball. However, lets say there was a Kane Ioane/Roger Cooper pairing...I could definitely see those two have respect and trust for one another. That could work.

Clemson has co-offensive coordinators. They seem to do alright.imacat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 1:42 amI agree that if it is Kane (or anyone else) he should have full control. It's not always an ideal situation, but it can definitely work. A lot of times it's just a title so you can pay a guy more so he doesn't leave.

Re: Winter questions/rumors/info.
Posted on the "Gregorak" thread that Choate would probably have a pretty healthy buffet of DC candidates to choose from should Ty leave. It would be AMAZING to see Kane on the sideline in charge of the D...but as others have said...looking cool and working are two different things.
He'd need to be ready. I don't imagine Choate would hire him if he wasn't.
