This is just becoming public, but Coach Choate had an emergency appendectomy over the weekend. Hence, one of the reasons for cancelling media appointments today. He was not feeling well during the whole weekend. For those of you that thought he was just dodging the media, this is a great of example of not having all the facts.

As long as he doesn't lift anything over 10 lbs, he should be on the sidelines this weekend! Get well Coach!

Re: Choate emergency surgery
Makes me wonder if he was feeling the pain during the game and if that affected his focus on coaching.
I do wish him a good and quick recovery.

Might explain at least some of his demeanor for that halftime interview.
Get better coach!

Yikes, heal up coach! Had hoped the press conference deal was a scheduling conflict and/or motivational, not this! Hope he feels better soon, that sucks.

My medical knowledge is limited to my personal experience and I have never had an appendectomy. What is the recovery time for this? Will he be able to coach today, tomorrow, this week?
Get well soon and heal up perfectly! We need you.

Usually about 7-10 days before a person is back to normal. As for coaching I'm not sure, but I'd say he'll be on the sideline come Saturday.Long Time Cat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 11:08 amMy medical knowledge is limited to my personal experience and I have never had an appendectomy. I had an appendectomy at age 41 4 years ago.Long Time Cat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 11:08 amMy medical knowledge is limited to my personal experience and I have never had an appendectomy. What is the recovery time for this? Will he be able to coach today, tomorrow, this week?

They now use a laparoscopy, which is minimally invasive. My pain was not much. I was discharged 36 hours after my surgury, and told to take it easy for 1 week. After I was discharged, I did not have to take any prescription pain meds. Maybe a dose of ibruprophen every now and then. However, 4 days after surgury I was up and mobile with no discomfort. I could feel the area was a little sore, but not restrictive.
5 days after surgury I was working normally.
I would expect coach to be at practice Thursday or Friday and on the sidelines Saturday.
