I don't want to get off into the weeds like years ago and debate left hand quarterbacks versus righties and rotation of passes, but....I'm not a receiver, never was. But is there some logic with receivers like was mentioned for running backs? Is there anything to be said about getting into a rhythm, about having troubles catching those ones that hit you in the hands because you never really know how the passes are coming in, high, low, bouncing in? I mean, there's been some excitement about the receivers coming in the past few years, but this "drops" thing continues. Is there a connection to inconsistent QB play, and receivers struggling to "get in a groove"?

I was wondering the same thing. Not enough reps to get in a groove seems logical to me. I’m hoping Anderson gets and stays healthy and we start to see the receivers get those reps.

Well if we compete some of those passes and actually flex our passing muscles, SDSU probably stops loading 9 in the box, which would’ve opened the run game a bit.

Doubtful we win regardless but SDSU never respected our pass, never had to.

I was hitting my head against the table when the first 3 plays in the WIU game were run, run, run. Teams are going to load the box if we don't have a passing game.

I also wonder if starting a new QB affected the (dropped) catches. The delivery is a little different for each QB. It could be that the revolving door on which QB starts has a small, but noticeable effect.

Well if new qb has an effect then so does new WR. Patterson and Jonsen are both new. I suspect it more lack of focus and jitters than anything else.

Just be glad all these things happened to a team that was favored to beat us than one we were supposed to beat, but then lost to because of drops, injured QB, sick coach.

Agreed. That game was ugly, but I'm hoping it was just a confluence of a lot of little things that snowballed into one of those bad games that happens sometimes. I'm sure it pointed out lots of things for the coaches and players to work on. At the risk of being accused of burying my head in the sand, I'm not going to obsess over it since I can't do anything about it anyway.

Bottom line, if you're going to have a game like that, this was the game for it - early in the season against one of the top teams. Despite that game, all of our goals for this season are still attainable (unless you thought a realistic goal for this season was an undefeated season). Hopefully, the coaches and team are able to use it as a learning experience and come out stronger because of it.

It would be ideal for Andersen to get in about 20-25 passes and Rovig 10-15 in this game against Wagner. And also Baumann to come in for a series or two at the end. For no other reason than it means we are winning big!

Yes that’d be ideal. TA for a half and first drive of second half. Get settled into being a QB. 13 for 20, 180 yards two tds.

Agree that the goals are still their like cat booster says, unless you thought we’d go 11-0. Most people said 8-3/7-4, so we played like crap with a third string frosh QB, 2x4 receivers and a sick coach agsinst the #3 team in the nation.

Nice, first game with the new blue & gold combo. Although, I LOVED last years Military Apprec uniforms!

With those uniforms, there is no way the Cats don't show massive improvement

Is Casey Bauman hurt? I would to see him get a few snaps.

Their ace running back gets away from us a little, but Bailey hits for 12.
