Was in Ireland a few years ago and noticed no lumber framing there also. Figured the cost of importing lumber was more expensive than cement made there.
Does the euro create seemingly unobstructed movement of labor and materials possible??

Re: Poland Trip for 10 Bobcats
Actually the exact opposite. The Schengen Zone allows for free flow of goods throughout. The issue is that concrete blocks are significantly cheaper than processing a tree, and the structure when built is significantly more solid. Wood is used as an accent piece. I am putting wood beams in, but only for ambiance not for actual support. The roof beam is poured concrete, not wood!77matcat wrote:Was in Ireland a few years ago and noticed no lumber framing there also. All interesting.
Maybe our construction crew can put together a presentation on their project to include the differences and in practices.

Sweden and Lithuania still had their own currency. Sweden the smallest paper money was 20 Krona, If you went to the Coop for groceries and used cash you had to feed the coins into a machine. Pain in the butt if you weren't used to it.77matcat wrote:Was in Ireland a few years ago and noticed no lumber framing there also. Sweden construction, lots of wood constructed homes. Lot of multi story condo buildings. Lot of modular stuff like you see at IKEA. Exposed piping in most places. I would guess from what I saw the average family lived in 1000 square feet or less.

Yes, in Budapest most people lived in a flat that was 4-60m2. We had 100m2 (about 1000sqft) and it was considered large, and typically would hold more than one family group. American sizing is not common in Europe.St George wrote:Sweden and Lithuania still had their own currency. Not trying to be picky or a smart a__, but just trying to understand your European measurements. Is 100m2 = to 100 meters squared? A hundred meters twice? Seems like 10 meters squared would be closer to 1000 square feet. Glad I only have to deal in feet. I had enough trouble with the metric system when I lived there.catsrback76 wrote:Yes, in Budapest most people lived in a flat that was 4-60m2. Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14.

Pretty cool. I noticed the kid in the front right of the school picture is wearing a shirt with a football helmet on it. It looks like Dallas Cowboy helmet with a big M? Is it a Euro football team?

But they get up at 5 AM every day and lift weights? That’s really the only important thing I want to know...
