Post-spring football series of stories

Post by Colter_Nuanez » Tue Apr 17, 2018 10:41 am

I'll be rolling out a series of stories about Montana State's recently completed spring football session and the state of the program in general over the next month or so. It will be at least 8 stories but could be more depending on all the notes and interviews I've compiled and what I have at my disposal.

Here is the first installment
Bobcats still searching for Murray's main competitor
https://skylinesportsmt.com/bobcats-sti ... ompetitor/

Part II - McGhee acclimating quickly to coaching MSU running backs
https://skylinesportsmt.com/mcghee-accl ... ing-backs/

Part III - Tucker II transitions smoothly to RB for Bobcats
https://skylinesportsmt.com/tucker-ii-t ... r-bobcats/

Part IV - 'Ball-playin' Jesse': Bobcat LB Kanow taking advantage of extra reps
https://skylinesportsmt.com/ball-playin ... ated-reps/

Part V - Choate’s “Thunder Cats” want to carry momentum from first seasons

Bob Cole sounds like a big time addition to the staff.

Agreed. I love McGhee but having a seasoned guy like Cole is great. I hope McGhee coaches here for a long time.

Sorry for the delay - a bunch of recruiting and NFL Draft coverage put me a little behind but we still will have four more spring ball stories and a collection of stories with the slew of late recruits Montana State football signed in February. If you remember right, Ryan Barkley, Koby Duru, Mailk Putney, James Williams, Isaiah Infanse and Mekhi Metcalf all committed less than a week before signing day so I'm in the process of catching up with each of them about their decisions to become Bobcats.

That is going to be one crowded backfield. I wonder how many touches Andersen will actually get. So many dynamic athletes.

Editor’s note: Montana State welcomed nine high school prospects to campus the final recruiting weekend of the winter the first weekend of February. Almost every single one of those recruits ended up signing National Letters of Intent less than a week later. Over the next three weeks, Skyline Sports will print a series of stories about each of the late commitments to Montana State. This is the first installment of that series featuring Eastside Catholic (Washington) 3-star safety Malik Putney.

Nice features. Something good is going to happen at linebacker for MSU.

Colter, you are pronouncing his name Dante "Spacaro" but isn't it Dante "Sparaco"? Guess I'm not sure.

Really looking forward to what this group can do, with the new additions and the "veterans".

Sometimes it's hard to read these cause they get you so pumped for next season. good read though, is it September yet?

The players are very pumped for next season. They really like all the additions that have arrived on campus so far.

I’ve heard the players are more stoked than usual, too. I think they’re almost always fairly positive on every team around the country.

Ya, it's pretty exciting to think about the season could play out. I don't think anyone questions this coaching staff's ability have their players playing their guts out every single snap. These teams have been able to scrap and fight and win quite a few games (Trending upwards having gone what 5-2 in conference last year?), despite being hamstrung with youth and inexperience. Now we have loads of talent, experience, some veteran leadership, and depth. If they maintain the heart and desire they've shown the last couple years I think they could be damn good.

Great time to be a BOBCAT!
