um is Mt’s flagship research university
Article today in the Mt Standard by Bodnar states the above. From what I can find the u just set a new record at 88 mil while MSU has exceeded 100 mil for s while.
Is Bodnar Trumping the state???? Or is the definition of the term flagship open for debate!??

I know I read something recently where he pointed out that 3 scientists on some list work with um. Only college in mt anyone on the list interacts with. IDK.

Like many on this board, I have a BA and find it quite useful as a working professional for the past 13 years. I did however graduate from an engineering school.superbobcat wrote:Yeah!! Let's go get a Bachelor of Arts degree and see how useful it is out in this world!
As for the original post: MSU spent $130.8 million last year in research which I'm fairly sure is more than $88 million, but I'm still running some calculations. I'm not a numbers guy so this could take a while.

When I graduated we were given the option of a BA or a BS. I personally took the BS. I'm not really sure what research has to do with football, but I am a numbers guy and this is more of an artsy thing I guess.

Ya I know it’s not football but things are slow on this site sooo.
Here’s the definition of flagship —- the best or most important thing owned or produced by a particular organization.
So per mr. Bodnar the u has the best or most important research the state owns. Clearly not the most and a stretch to suggest the best.
I hope MSU publishes facts and calls mr Bodnar on this attempt to establish an alternate universe.

I am trying to think what kind of research goes on at dUMb. No1. pharmacy, which is better advil or excederin? What dope can we give players and not get caught? No 2. what type of straw to use for making underwater baskets? No. 3, Law school, when does no mean no. No. 4, journalism school, how to re-define hypocrite. No. 5, Phys ed, under hand or over hand pull ups?

I have a B.S. and the closest I've come to being a scientist has been working with some in pharma and medical while working in sales and marketing.allcat wrote:When I graduated we were given the option of a BA or a BS. They may be researching which would be more useful, a five step of a seven step Waltz. Or maybe is it warmer during the Summer or the Winter and why is that so? Is a pile of feces always smelly and why??? Or is Missoula granola tastier and why man? Ya know, man!!!Long Time Cat wrote:St George wrote:I am trying to think what kind of research goes on at dUMb. Re: um is Mt’s flagship research university
I’m just laughing at the lack of research that went into an article about a university research program lol.
Guess it just proves UM is a journalist school, facts don’t matter only headlines and selling the story

Bodnar is going to fit in well over there. If the facts aren’t in your favor, just make something up. Kind of like Grizaddict does all the time.

Anyway, sounds like something a dUMb journalist major would try to write in an obsolete fishwrap...
