Re: Kickoff poll
The penalties you end up incurring many times put you in a hole. I also watched this video and iy has a better idea at the very end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_SsIKgwvz4

Re: Kickoff poll
In the video, the proposal by shiano (sp) turns it into either a punt or the team can go for 4th and 15 from the 30. I think a punt is a more interesting play than a kickoff, which over 80 percent of the time ends up in virtually the same spot.catsrback76 wrote:Of course not. Re: Kickoff poll
The kickoff (even in its current form where we rarely see a return anymore), should be left as part of the game. There are times when the kicker screws up and the receiving team gets good field position out of it. Plus if it was eliminated, then there would no longer be the possibility of an onside kick.

Re: Kickoff poll
While you are right, I believe that is addressed in schiano's proposal. The video may be long to watch, so here is his proposal in an article. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/8390 ... n-magazine Obviously you could make this 4th and 10. Either way, if a team wants to go for it, there is a higher probability of success than an on sides kick.catgrad05 wrote:The kickoff (even in its current form where we rarely see a return anymore), should be left as part of the game. Re: Kickoff poll
I'm not sure if I hate it because it puts punters on the field more, or if I like it because it means punters serve an actual productive purpose.

You still don't need to punt. If you are a big time gambler.BLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote:I'm not sure if I hate it because it puts punters on the field more, or if I like it because it means punters serve an actual productive purpose.

Re: Kickoff poll
Yeah, I've decided I like this idea. 4th down offense and fake punts are both cooler than onside kicks, and I've long been a proponent of combining the roles of punter and kickoff specialist.allcat wrote:You still don't need to punt.
