For those curious 7A is the second biggest division in FL, schools with enroll between 2,009-2,404.

An excerpt from a local paper about Martin, sorry if it's a double post:

“This means a lot,” said Martin, who transferred from Lake Gibson in the spring. “A lot of people don’t see the grind that goes behind this. You work for four years just to get to this day.”

Martin said that academics played a big role in his decision. He plans on majoring in kinesiology and said Montana State has one of the best programs for that major.
I saw that he also has a GPA of 3.5. He could be the best pickup of the year. 6’0” and 230. 4.65 forty. Interest from Iliinois and Southern Miss.
I'll put it this way...if Martin was actually 6'0, he'd be playing P5 football.

When he went to camps, they do measurements and testing. He was 5'10 220 and ran a 4.9 40. Now, I'm not complaining about those. It's why we got him, and a 4.9 laser time is probably close to a 4.7 handtime, give or take a tenth.

I think Martin is a stud. He's got great tape. The level of competition at his level is phenomenal, unlike anything at all near us. But if he had that kind of tape, and was 6'0 230 with a 4.65 40, he'd be going to play for the Florida Gators, not us. So I'm thankful, because he's a stud and will start for us for multiple years.

McGhee measured 5-11 at his pro day and Martin is a full inch taller in the Twitter picture of them standing side by side. Maybe McGhee was crouching down or Martin was standing on a Sears catalog.

True TomCat, saying Montgomery Wards would have really given it away.
I still remember the two items I bought when they were closing the Wards store in Reno...

Likewise, if Martin is 5-10, then McGhee is 5-9, which simply is not the case. So thanks espn for throwing everyone else off Martin’s trail. \:D/

I'll take an official measurement over a picture, personally.

Now obviously he could have grown, but this doesn't matter that much so I'll bow out.

How tall is Josh Hill? Did anybody foresee him becoming the player that he is?? Bunch of darn Debbie Downers with nothing going on so we have to argue about 1” of guys height and a stride and a half of his speed. All about a kid that’s been VOTED All State in his home state on the other side of the damn country. In a classification bigger than what we have in Montana. If he gets here and sucks gopher balls, THEN let’s bitch about him.

Quite frankly, I’m pretty fricken thrilled that’s he’s coming to MSU.

I think you are misinterpreting tone. I thing everyone is excited Martin is a cat. If he were an inch taller and a step faster he might be playing in the SEC.

For what it’s worth, I think he closer to 5-11, 240.

My 2 cents.
Martin is thick, he's quick, and he knows how to hit. If he continues to develop and plays with heart he will be a good one.
I'm glad to have him on board and he sounds like he's eager to get here and start training.

I see him listed at 5-10 is espn’s recruiting site. Everywhere else he’s either 6-0 or 6-1. The photo with McGhee makes him look at least an inch taller than McGhee. McGhee is listed as 5-11 1/4 by the NFL. I assume they got that from his pro day. McGhee is listed at 5-11 by draftscout.com.

Based on all that it seems unlikely that Martin is 5-10.

Back to my original post, but he was FIRST TEAM ALL STATE in Football hotbed Florida in that team’s second largest classification! He is a good student and has proven he can play ball! Why do people have to find any reason to be critical? I expect Jaharie will be contributing early and often!
