Running it up...down and all around...on UM

Post by TomCat88 » Tue Nov 21, 2017 8:03 am

MSU has put up some big numbers rushing the ball the past two years, but TheCat-Griz Game has been remarkable. The Bobcats have 690 rushing yards with seven players gaining 60+ and 19 carries of 10 yards or more. Murray (142 and 99) and LaSane (62 and 121) were over 60 in both games with LaSane got his 62 on just two carries. There have been four runs of 48 or more with LaSane’s 71-yard TD being the longest. He also had a 61-yarder last year. Newell (72), Brekke (96) and Andersen (64) have the other three 60+ games. A wide receiver (Kassis) has even had two of the 10+ carries.

The 19 10+ rushes: 71, 65, 61, 48, 36, 28, 26, 20, 19, 18, 18, 18, 18, 17, 17, 15, 14, 10, 10.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

These last two Cat-Griz games remind me of the 2001 Colorado-Nebraska game. The Buffs ran all over the Huskers for 380 yards. Only difference is that they only used two runners for the most part and we had four each year. This year we had five players with 10+ yard runs. Murray, LaSane, Andersen, Kassis and Jones.

Two great running sequences were on the third and fourth TD drives.

On the third we went 3-17-9-14-18-19td.
On fourth it was 6-1-4(pass)-4-10-36-10-4td.

CHUNKS of yardage.
