No matter how you slice and dice this game up, it is going to be study of contrasts. Eastern's prolific passing attack against our defence/secondary which has shown itself to be pretty good at times, and leaky on seam balls and slants. We also have only 1 INT for the year which is not something that bodes well for us today.

However, Eastern will have to deal with our run game which has proven to be a problem for every team we've played, save the Cougs. So, the question is, who will impress their will on the other???

We do not want to get into a track meet with Eastern, we will surely lose that game. However, if we can grind out a methodical run game, own the clock, and tackle well on the open looks, contain the QB with pressure and contest the ball in the air...this game will be close.

We've not faired well in Cheney recently, so it is clear we are the underdogs for this game...however, this team can rise up, can execute ala SDSU, and can definitely win this game, IF we keep it in the 30's score wise.

The last several years MSU has handily won TOP and yet not won the game. Why do people think this year breaks that trend?

There is a breakover point with EWU. You can win TOP handily, and then you can dominate. I think that it takes domination of the clock to beat them, or a large turnover margin or some combination of the two.

Just watched the NDSU EWU game yesterday, and it started out a really competitive game (kudos EWU). But NDSU just kept pounding it (with a nice sprinkle of pass game) until EWU was soft as a marshmallow. Along with opening up all of the late drives for further ground dominance, this put EWU offense into a position where they started forcing passes, which created turnovers, which led to more NDSU TOP.

I think we have the team to execute the NDSU game plan. The only question is, do our guys have the resolve to finish the game and not allow a dangerous offense to come back. To be honest, I think we have better conditioning than most of the teams they have faced as well. That will stand out today.

Yeah, I went back to the tape of the PSU game and realized that dispite tough talk from coach about being one d because we wanted to, there was an effort after the second drive of the second half stalled, where we tried to open up the run even more with some passing. Had we succeeded in that, it would have been a more dominant win.

I hope we run the ball to the right, to the left, up the middle, off left tackle, off right tackle, down their throat and over the goal line enough times so that passing is something we do just to break the monotony. Kill the souls.

We also have a much better defense than the last 4 or 5 years. If we really control the clock, and force a few punts we'll have a great chance to win.

As the tool box get's bigger with what the Coach's can game plan with , my gut tells me we see a new wrinkle of
some kind for EW , I really like the ability of these coaches to make adjustments during the game and at half
time. After that it will come down to the team who can focus and execute their game plan the best, will
Win this game . We can play well in hostile environments ( wagrizoo ) last year. Go Cat's
