Re: 2017- Record watch
They probably didn't keep records of that stat officially back then or he would be.77matcat wrote:Should Bill Kolar be on the top ten in Tackles for a loss???

Thanks for doing this. I'll try to get the 300/100 list if you don't already have it. It might be in the MSU record book.
300/100 list
Lulay
Prukop 3 - October 4, 2014 vs Sacramento State (348 passing: 140 rushing); October 11, 2014 vs UC Davis (361 passing; 148 rushing); September 19, 2015 vs Eastern Washington (353 passing; 196 rushing)
Murray - September 9, 2017 vs South Dakota State (311 passing; 107 rushing)
I'll try to track down the dates and exact numbers. I gotta feeling Murray might do that few more times.
Lulay had 432 passing and 110 running against ewu on November 13, 2004.

Imagine what the record watch is going to look like in two years if Murray stays healthy.

Re: 2017- Record watch
Love this thread but is there anyway to put a couple more defensive stats in here? Most tackles, sacks and maybe INTs. I'm not doing the work and do appreciate what you do.

Re: 2017- Record watch
So, on the first page I only track the records/stats that apply to active players, and if an active player is on a top 10 list or approaching a top 10 (for career or the season). So INT, tackles, sacks don't really apply at this point, as there is no active player really approaching any of those lists. Even Bignell is pretty far off from approaching the career tackles top 10. Maybe later into the season there might be a player that approaches one of the top 10 lists for a season or career, which I would then add.BobcatOninetails wrote:Love this thread but is there anyway to put a couple more defensive stats in here? You can check out all the Stats/records at the MSUbobcats website, they update it after each season: http://msubobcats.com/documents/2017/8/ ... ecords.pdf

Re: 2017- Record watch
Anyone here think that Murray can become the Cats all-time leading rusher? If he averages 90yrds/game for the rest of this year that'll leave him at around 1950 yards at the end of this season. He'd then need about 1700 yards to catch Ryan Johnson. Assuming no playoffs, that means he'd need to average about 75 yards/game over the remaining 23 games of his career. Not out of the question for sure but he'd have to stay healthy to do it and I'm not sure if he's rushing it that much that will happen. Fun to think about though..
FYI - He's currently averaging about 120 yrds/game thus far in his career. That's through 11 games in which he had a major role as a player. I threw out the yards and games against Bryant and Western Oregon that he accumulated in mop up time.

Re: 2017- Record watch
yeah, I was looking at that... I think he has a legitimate shot at reaching that top spot. The biggest concern is him staying healthy. One thing I have noticed about Murrary though, especially this year, is that he rarely takes a really big hit. He is so shifty, that even when he is being tackled its rarely a "head on" type of hit/tackle.... but yeah, injuries can definitely happen at any time, so its definitely a concern. Hope he can keep it goin, its fun to watch!ElbowCat wrote:Anyone here think that Murray can become the Cats all-time leading rusher? Re: 2017- Record watch
I think if the offense doesn't change any, he'd be up there for sure. But given the improvement already this year in his passing, I would expect to see him start trading rushing yards for passing yards.mslacatfan wrote:yeah, I was looking at that... He is going to shatter it THIS year alone....msuhunter wrote:If Murray plays four years, he's going to shatter those QB rushing records.

And unfortunately, Herbert will barely move from where he is right now.mslacatfan wrote:He is going to shatter it THIS year alone....msuhunter wrote:If Murray plays four years, he's going to shatter those QB rushing records.

Re: 2017- Record watch
yeah.... I have thought the same thing, kind of a bummer. After his first 2 years I thought he was going to break damn near every WR record. Hate to say that we are wasting his senior year.... but yeah, he is a big time weapon that is not being maximized.Cledus wrote:And unfortunately, Herbert will barely move from where he is right now.mslacatfan wrote:He is going to shatter it THIS year alone....msuhunter wrote:If Murray plays four years, he's going to shatter those QB rushing records.

Re: 2017- Record watch
updated from the NC game.
a handful of list updates, also added the top 10 total offense in a season list, which Murray is on pace to hit in a couple games.
