Breakout player and MVP predictions
Alright, now that we have a couple weeks of fall camp and some scrimmages in the books... Always fun to see everyones predictions (just for the bobcats, not entire big sky):
Defensive MVP
Defensive breakout player?
Offensive MVP?
Offensive breakout player?
My pics:
Defense MVP- Mac Bignell (no big surprise, but hard to pick against him)
Defense breakout player- Chase Benson (Redshirt Frosh- sounds like this guy is a beast)
Offense MVP- Murray (again, the obvious choice, but as long as he can stay healthy I think he is going to put up some Prukop type numbers)
Offense breakout player- tie between Troy Anderson and Lance McCutcheon (sp?)- Troy is the obvious choice, but Lance is looking like he could be one of the better WR's we have had in a LONG time, total package WR.

Offensive MVP: Murray. Obvious choice.
Offensive Breakout: Kevin Kassis. Obvious choice, imo. He had a good freshman year, but Murray can actually pass the ball this year and his numbers should go up. Critical part of our offense and ST's.
Defensive MVP: I should say Mac, because he's our best player, but I'm gonna go a different route. Chase Benson. Yeah, a RS Frosh. Why? Interior pass rush is the single most important part of a defense, and we haven't had any since Minter. Remember those defenses? An interior pass rush leads to sacks from your ends, and interceptions. Don't let QB's step up in the pocket! Yates and Wright are good players, but no pass rush from them. If Benson can stay healthy, he won't be the best player, but he will be the most valuable.
Defensive Breakout: Damien Washington. Our top CB. Good coverage guy. We need him to do well, and I think he will. Bruce Alley another option here too.

Not sure Murray is going to be able to consistently hit that seam route, but Sullivan will be open 90% of the time there.

Re: Breakout player and MVP predictions
Offensive MVP: Murray. He may not be where we, he, or the coaches want him to be passing yet, but I think people are kind of forgetting just how dynamic he is with his feet. All this talk of his improved passing game, and he hopefully won't run as much as he did last year, but this is a guy who rushed for 860 yards on 138 carries (this includes losing 125 on sacks and such), and a 70 yard TD run. He is probably going to get about 70 yards a game on the ground, so that is a good 770 yards right there before negatives. There is just no one else on the offense right now that we can lean on to make a big play yet.
Offensive Breakout: Kassis. Hard not to pick him, he just seems like a star in the making. Question of course is, can we get him the ball.
Defensive MVP: Bignell. Nothing needs to be said here.
Defensive Breakout: Alley. I'd like to pick Alley, but can you have a "breakout" season your senior year? Kind of an oxymoron. If I can pick a senior, I choose Alley. If this award is more of up and coming guys, then I'll go with Grant Collins. I know he is somewhat of a known commodity, but this is the year I think he starts piling up sacks and makes an all-conference team.

Re: Breakout player and MVP predictions
Once Andersen starts running the Wildcat and catching passes out of the backfield you guys will be like Chris who? Andersen will be both on offense.
No clue about the defense.
I just got it on high authority that Andersen will be a huge part of your offense, so I had to chime in.

A Skyline tweet said Choate is saying that Andersen is now learning entire playbook.
What's up with Keaton Anderson?

Nice to hear someone speak of the defensive line. What of the offensive line? The pyramid does not stand on the top-stone.

Re: Breakout player and MVP predictions
With the two deep depth chart posted for the first game I think everyone is surprised at which running backs are listed. Looking at Jones' height and weight he appears to be small, but I believe he packs quite a punch with speed, quickness and agility at those dimensions.
Offensive Breakout: Logan Jones and Troy Anderson
Offensive MVP: Chris Murray
Defensive Breakout: Brayden Konkol
Defensive MVP: Mac Bignell
