Re: 2018 MSU Recruiting (16 Verbals)
its probably been mentioned somewhere, but how many scholarships/players should we expect to see in the class? Already have 16 verbals. Will it be much more than this, or still expecting another 10 or so? just curious. Last years class was huge, so not sure how many spots are even available?

Re: 2018 MSU Recruiting (16 Verbals)
This isn't the complete answer, but we have 14 seniors on the team, and I feel like there'd be about 13.5 scholarships in there (I have no idea on actual scholarship numbers. I'm just guessing)mslacatfan wrote:its probably been mentioned somewhere, but how many scholarships/players should we expect to see in the class? Already have 16 verbals. If you add the players that quit, retired, or transferred between last signing period and now, such as Keon Stephens, Cam Sutton, Woody Brandom, Chris Harris, Sidney Holmes, Tavon Dodd, Shiloh LaBoy, Tre'Von Strong, Luke Daly, Monte Folsom and Blake Braun that makes the scholarship number 25 (assuming they all had full scholarships and none of those got used up by last years class in anticipation of players retiring/leaving), I'd say we have somewhere in the ballpark of 24.5 scholarships or so. In reality, I'd say we have a couple less, but I have no inside information to base this on.
Going through the list, I also noticed that we're losing Rocky Hogue this year. He's been a phenomenal long snapper (he's just like an O-Lineman. If you never hear about him, he's doing great) and I wonder what the plan is to replace him. Will we bring in another scholarship long snapper? Or just hold tryouts and see who can do it best?

We currently have another LS on the roster - walkon I believe ... guessing coaches are hoping he is the next guyblueandgoldblitz wrote:This isn't the complete answer, but we have 14 seniors on the team, and I feel like there'd be about 13.5 scholarships in there (I have no idea on actual scholarship numbers. Good call guys. Totally missed him in my scan through the roster last night. Hopefully, he's as consistent as Rocky has been for us

Just caught last part of show on root sports where they had competition of top quarterbacks in northwest compete and then named their top 9. Bobcat commit Casey Bauman ended up 2nd. Announcers thought he could develop into an nfl qb.

Vim - is Seth Schneider from Capital High getting a serious look from the Cats? From what I hear, he hasn't been offered yet.

Re: 2018 MSU Recruiting (16 Verbals)
I view Seth Schneider as a PWO at either RB or LB. Great high school player but lack of speed at either RB or LB for the FCS level hold him back from being a top prospect. Speed can be developed with the proper training (see Cody Kirk). But speed is my guess as to why he hasn't been offered. He runs with power between the tackles and is an excellent tackler on defense.91catAlum wrote:Vim - is Seth Schneider from Capital High getting a serious look from the Cats? I've heard the Big Sky QB, Levi Janacaro has been opening some eyes. Probably wouldn't be recruited as a QB, but more likely on defense or as an athlete. Any word on him, Vim?

RB or LB and he has the size. I bet he gets an offer as a linebacker by the end of November from either the Cats or Griz. Shoot...he may already have one.Team10 wrote:I've heard the Big Sky QB, Levi Janacaro has been opening some eyes. Probably wouldn't be recruited as a QB, but more likely on defense or as an athlete. Re: 2018 MSU Recruiting (16 Verbals)
It would be ridiculous if he's not being recruited or doesn't have an offer already. He for sure fits the mold of recruiting QBs because they are most often the best athlete and very knowledgeable players. Hope he wants to be an engineer and not a dance choreographer.VimSince03 wrote:RB or LB and he has the size.
