Raise a little hell - trooper (3rd down song)
Was I alone in wanting to smash my face off a brick wall every time this was played? Has there ever been a worse 3rd down song to pump people up? I cannot imagine a scenario where someone was like "what should we play to fire up the defense" and this song was suggested and agreed upon.

Probably not a good or wise way to "suggest" that you'd like to see a different song put into the game play list.

I'm not a fan of the song either. The reason it is played is when the ice dogs played out at the ice gardens, that was the song they played at the start of every game. The song works for an small enclosed hockey arena. It doesn't at the football game.

Re: Raise a little hell - trooper (3rd down song)
I have a play list that would be perfect for a football game and would really make me excited and pumped up. The other 18,000 people in attendance would unfortunately disagree.

I don't mind it at all. It's pretty much a stadium staple right along with 7 nation army, hells bells, etc.

While Raise a Little Hell is far from the unmitigated disaster the OP would have us believe, I really think that Hell's Bells is the perfect 3rd down song. The bells are instantly recognizable, and perhaps most importantly it requires the fans to start making noise to fill in the pauses between chimes.

While we are at it, I was not a fan of the Star Wars song on 4th downs. Maybe it's just cause I am not a huge fan of Star Wars?

No. It only started being played really last year to my recollection. It's been Hells bells prior to that for yeara.wbtfg wrote:I don't mind it at all. It's pretty much a stadium staple right along with 7 nation army, hells bells, etc.

I'm talking stadiums in general. That said, I know the Trooper song was played quite a bit in late 90s early 2000s.lutecat wrote:No. It only started being played really last year to my recollection. Re: Raise a little hell - trooper (3rd down song)
I think I must be lucky in life to have never hated a song so much that I wanted to smash my face on a brick wall.
I love music discussions, though, so let's keep it up! 'Raise a little hell' was played on 3rd downs last year, so my crew decided to keep rolling with that for the first game this season to see how the crowd responded and for the sake of not changing EVERYTHING right away.
We've gotten mixed reactions on this particular song, but a lot of our guys like it, and that's important, too.
I'd love to hear your suggestions though, so please let me know if you think you've got the perfect 3rd down beat. I plan to play with it a bit these first three games until we find the right one for Bobcat Stadium.

Re: Raise a little hell - trooper (3rd down song)
Bethany - we played the "Bring 'Em Out" song by T.I. yesterday prior to our guys taking the field. While that seems like a pretty cool run-out song for the team to enter the stadium, it's long been played by the morons in maroon over at dUMb when their team takes the field. Can we play something original??? Seemed like we were just copying that other team.BethanyCordell wrote:I think I must be lucky in life to have never hated a song so much that I wanted to smash my face on a brick wall.

Re: Raise a little hell - trooper (3rd down song)
Thanks for the feedback, and honestly I had no idea that UM played it so the decision to play that song wasn't made 'to copy them.' We actually just filled some empty space with that song, they didn't take the field to it... We made the decision to have the entire band on the field this year to play the fight song for the team to run out to, which we got a lot of great feedback on. Hopefully that helps clarify!Camo_Cat wrote:Bethany - we played the "Bring 'Em Out" song by T.I. yesterday prior to our guys taking the field. If you sat down the best musicians of all time and asked them to compose a song that would be ideal for third down plays, they would give you Hells Bells.BethanyCordell wrote:I think I must be lucky in life to have never hated a song so much that I wanted to smash my face on a brick wall.

Thanks for the clarification Bethany! Hell's Bells and only that.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.
