Kheenyon is a 2-star athlete according to Scout. On that note, Scout.com is now ranking 6th graders.

I was wondering about that after watching his hudl vid. That gives us one 4-star, five 3-star, and two 2-star players in this class.VimSince03 wrote:Kheenyon is a 2-star athlete according to Scout. On that note, Scout.com is now ranking 6th graders.

Jessie Clark was ranked as a 2-star defensive end coming out of JC on scout as well.[cat_bracket] wrote:I was wondering about that after watching his hudl vid. That gives us one 4-star, five 3-star, and three 2-star players in this class. Nine total star-rated players in this class. Breaks last year's record of eight.

Though stars really don't matter to me because the sites pretty much disregard certain states like Montana (Jesse Sims was not the only rated player in Montana this year), it still is fun to gauge talent that way.[cat_bracket] wrote:Boo-yah!!VimSince03 wrote:Jessie Clark was ranked as a 2-star defensive end coming out of JC on scout as well.[cat_bracket] wrote:I was wondering about that after watching his hudl vid. I agree, but everyone else brags about the star rated players ("some" even attach star ratings to players that don't have one) I figured we better do it too.VimSince03 wrote:Though stars really don't matter to me because the sites pretty much disregard certain states like Montana (Jesse Sims was not the only rated player in Montana this year), it still is fun to gauge talent that way.[cat_bracket] wrote:Boo-yah!!VimSince03 wrote:Jessie Clark was ranked as a 2-star defensive end coming out of JC on scout as well.[cat_bracket] wrote:I was wondering about that after watching his hudl vid. Out of all these tremendously fast kids, which one(s) are going to be our return specialists? If I'm not mistaken, we have five kids coming to MSU who are faster than Shawn Johnson and we all know what he was able to do as soon as they taught him how to catch a punt or kickoff. Special team play next year determines competitive versus a championship for this group of kids. It's my hope we are able to have a few of the young kids concentrate solely on the return game and let the offense/defense kids concentrate on their role.

Brekke will be one of the kick return guys and Griebel will return punts.IMO.

Wasn't Brekke the top kick returners in the league last year? Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mitch Griebel taking over punt returning. He has sure hands and is super shifty in tight spaces.Cat Grad wrote:Out of all these tremendously fast kids, which one(s) are going to be our return specialists? EDIT: Hawks86 beat me to the punch.

I'm not so sure these guys are faster than Shawn Johnson, especially in pads. But anything close is good!

Don't get me wrong(I like Brekke at KR) but this kid will be dynamite if he can handle catching kicks. After watching his video, all I could think about was his ability to see a hole and get through it at speed. Playing db he comes up and delivers a shot so contact doesn't seem to be an issue.
Not sure he will see the field this year, but, with Gates and Paige in on speed package, who has Dbs that can keep up?
Another quality skill player for sure.

My sleeper for KR & PR is Logan Jones.

Yeah, he was really good. As I stated, I'd like to keep our skill kids focused on the offense this year and not have to use them at all on special teams. Maybe use a corner or safety just to have them quit "thinking" so much on defense.Hawks86 wrote:My sleeper for KR & PR is Logan Jones.

I consider the return game as part of the offense. Whoever is the best at that job should be doing it no matter what position they play. Everybody except Prukop, of course.Cat Grad wrote:Yeah, he was really good. I love watching this kid on a wheel route out of the back field! Linebackers have no chance!

Not to be a debbie-downer but Colter did state that he has to clear up some academic issues prior to coming here in the fall.

I am not a guy who gets jacked up about recruiting classes.
normally
This year, I am JACKED UP about this recruiting class
Pomona High won their first CIF Southern Section Championship since 1951 - Woods was a playmaker on that team.
Do you guys know how rare it is for a kid to consistently blaze past defenders who have the pursuit angles, in the CIF Southern Section?
I like this kid -- speed, football vision and smarts, initiates contact when he needs to. Welcome Kheenyon -- make the grades and your future in Bozeman awaits.
I think we're passing EWU up as far as Offensive team speed. I expect more games like last years' UC Davis track meet in our future.
