This is a great move by Coach Ash, Coach Ioane, and the entire coaching staff:

1) Keeps the Texas pipeline strong for recruiting

2) We get a coach who knows our program

3) We get a really good person back on campus and in the Bozeman community

Excited about the future!!!

Anybody remember that game where Ash and Owens were having a big argument as they were leaving the field-either it was halftime or at the end of the game...anyway Ash pretty much swept it under the rug when asked about it. It was funny-Owens went on to be the defensive player of the year and everything was fine. Owens was a coach on the field already back then.

We can't say that Coach Ash did not get the memo about the condition of our defensive unit and scheme from last year. He has made personnel changes on the defensive coaching staff by elevating Coach Ioane to Co-Coordinater, and now Coach Owens as an additional LB coach. He has focused on recruiting defensive players and has made it clear that our defense will NOT REPEAT last years experience.

Great job Coach Ash! =D^ =D^ =D^

And welcome back Coach Owens!!! =D^ =D^ =D^

Yep, you have to give Ash credit for doing everything in his power to fix that side of the ball. If this D turns out like we think it will, we might get our ultimate goal.

I can't wait

What a staff that would be with Minter! Add a little more fire! I say bring back Denarious to be the QB coach as well. Like having the Beatles reunite!

Awesome, awesome news. Owens probably has a lot of knowledge about Texas players coming up. Combine that with Ioane's eye for talent and you've got an even better pipeline from Texas.

That's right! Texas is in the Bible Belt, so some old time gospel music would work even better.

I really like how Ash has made a commitment to bringing back former players as coaches. What a great selling point on the recruiting trails.

I especially love bringing Jody in as a coach. Last year our defense lacked attitude.

Maybe I missed it, but what position does Mike Rider have, Linebackers or Secondary?

Neither. Mike Rider has been an assistant on staff for two seasons. After serving as a graduate assistant at UNLV helping with the offensive line, Rider came to MSU. He helped Bo Beck with the defensive line in 2013 and Kane Ioane with the linebackers in 2014. He is expected to be the leading candidate and re eventual replacement for Brandon North, sharing coaching the secondary with Jamie Marshall.
