Cody Kempt inherited a slew of adversity in his first year as a coach. After being hired in February, the 26-year-old had to coach a group of MSU wide receivers short on experience. Seniors to be Brian Flotkoetter and Davis Dash sat out with injuries, as did junior to be Manny Kalfell. Tanner Roderick was busy competing for the starting quarterback spot. By the time Big Sky play rolled around, Flotkoetter, Dash and Kalfell had all be lost for the season, leaving Kempt with a group that includes junior Mitch Griebel, Roderick and true freshmen Justin Paige and Mitch Herbert.
