Actually, MSU allowed 28 fourth quarter points, not 21. We went into the quarter down 14-10 and Orenzo scored to take a 17-14 lead on the first or second play of the quarter. They answered with a TD from about 20 yards out (McNorton) after converting a 3rd and 3 with a QB bootleg for 40+ yards (the play of the game) to make it 21-17. Their was still a lot of time remaining, over 10 minutes at least. The teams exchanged a four punts with an MSU fumble mixed in, and THEN they scored 21 points starting with less than 6 minutes to go in the game. McGhee was injured somewhere along the way. Out of nowhere they scored 3 TDs on 4 plays in 3 minutes, 34 seconds! A 52-yard run by McN after a MSU punt, then a 38-yard run by McN after MSU turned it over on downs, then a short run by Segars after a McGhee INT.

It was a really close, well-played game until the 5:37 mark and the wheels just fell off for us. That last few minutes has caused a lot of people to skew what a good game that actually was and conclude that NDSU is just too physical for us. I don't necessarily buy it. A very hard-hitting, physical game. Maybe we were worn down or maybe we just didn't execute, who knows?

Great article Colter. I had guessed that the team may not have fully understod the playoffs there first year and this is the first time that I have seen them admit it. But it sure sounds like the team is much more focused this year and hopefully they can make the big run that they set there minds on. Its a great time to be a Bobcat
