Cooper signing
No word on 1aa.org, just curious if any cat fans have some insight on Cooper's status...

There is an interesting list in Scout.com - BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE AFTER SEVEN ROUNDS
Gives you some idea of some of the players not drafted and how they ranked them.

The best of the list that I saw was Ernest Shazor from Mich. A safty and a stud.

There were some really good guys not drafted. During the draft, there were some stretches too. I guess it is a lot like recruiting, a big crap shoot. Look at Zach Thomas and Teddy Bruschi. Neither one of them were supposed to be big enough or good enough to play in the NFL and look at their success.
Good Luck Roger Cooper!!!!!

Cooper is a very hard worker/tough mentally and has a big motor (stays with plays and never gives up) .... very typical of guys that Bill Parcels likes. So if he steps up and stays with it in camp (Not saying it going to be easy) and does the little things as well he for sure can get a roster spot on that team.mquast53000 wrote:Hey John Randall (DT with MN most of his years) was signed as a free agent, and he was one of the best DL in the 90's.

I am surprised that Fred Amey wasn't drafted. To me, he was possibly the best WR in the Big Sky. It was between him and Eric Kimble, but I thought that Amey probably had the best hands in the conference. He ran a 4.53, which isn't terrible. Well, hopefully he ends up signed as a free agent sometime soon.
Another undrated guy who I thought might have a chance at being drafted was John Paul Jones, the DT from McNeese St. I'm sure all of you remember him being one of the unmovable guys that the Cats faced in Lake Charles 3 years ago. He was a beast and Ryan Johnson couldn't get anything with him plugging up the whole middle of the field.
Congrats to Roger on being signed by the Cowboys! Unfortunately it was the Cowboys and not the Bears, but hey, you can't always get what you want, eh?
By the way, I saw one prospect's name, Cory Lekkerkerker from UC-Davis. That would be quite the name to have to pronounce all the time. Luckily he is an O-lineman so his name wouldn't be called as often as some others.

Cooper signed by Dallas
By TIM DUMAS, Chronicle Sports Writer
It turns out Roger Cooper was wanted plenty.
After not being selected in the NFL Draft over the weekend, Cooper was signed to a free agent contract Sunday night by the Dallas Cowboys, his father, Roger Sr., confirmed Monday morning.
Ten teams were reportedly interested in his services, with Miami and Dallas involved in final negotiations.
Cooper will leave later this week to attend the Cowboys' minicamp.
