Vim: in your opinion what was it about Ekern that caught Choate and Cole’s attention?

By watching his film, he didn't look like a bad quarterback by any means. Threw a good ball and showed the ability to run. I thought he had position versatility as a safety. Overall, if the coaches thought he had potential, they believed he was worth the offer. Their opinion trumps everyone elses in my opinion. Obviously, his senior season didn't go as expected.

He actually looks decent in his HUDL. He only played a few games last year, I'm thinking maybe he switched to QB last year? It could just be that Cole saw a lot of raw talent at QB even though his stats weren't impressive. Seems comfortable in the pocket, keeps his eyes down field, good size and decent speed. I'm just guessing Cole thought he was a diamond in the rough and could execute the kind of offense we've been running for 3 years now.

Really happy for you and the show getting on TV. I hope, as the coverage expands to the whole state, that the time allotted to the Cats expands also.

Thank you very much! If you've been monitoring, our show went from 0 percent Cats when I first joined to about 40 percent Cats this football season to about 75 percent Cats in terms of college football the last month with the Griz out of the playoffs. We will strive to be statewide and balanced in every aspect, from Big Sky to Frontier to preps upon the TV launch. We are also working hard to get the radio broadcast itself syndicated in all the major markets around Montana.

Joe is one of the best players in the state and some fans may have forgotten just how good his senior season was progressing until he broke his arm in Week 6. Through his first five games, he had 971 rushing yards (only 53 yards behind Blake Counts). These two backs were well on their way to have a Sosa/McGuire battle to see who could break the AA rushing record first. The two advantages Joe has had over Blake since the beginning is speed and position versatility. I feel Blake has better vision and patience but Joe can break one to the house when he hits the open field. Joe mostly played offense his senior season but he was my top rated LB after an outstanding junior campaign. I also still feel Blake has been tremendously under recruited due to that lack of speed because he has everything else. But Cat fans should be very excited Joe decided to stay home and play for his hometown college. He is an excellent football player.

@Colter_Nuanez

On your Montana football hour a few weeks ago you were talking about QB’s making campus visits in Bozeman. You had mentioned it was Gresch Jensen and a Power 5 transfer that you couldn’t name at the time. I’m assuming that was Modster? Are you able to confirm now that he’s committed to Cal? Or was it possibly someone else?

Yup it was Modster. I actually had it from a good source he was committing to Montana State. So when I said that on my show, I didn't want to spoil the story I already had written haha. Instead, like Vim said, he's going to Cal.

3 star QB from Utah. Also has an offer from Hawaii, and getting interest from Utah, but no offer yet that I can find.

Actually pretty interesting that he posted the offer as he could have already committed to Hawaii this morning but hasn't... \:D/ \:D/ \:D/
