3rd Grader In Trouble For Smoking Pot
KALISPEL — A third-grader who admitted smoking marijuana in the boy's restroom at school is one of the first students to have been disciplined under the Whitefish School District's new suspicion-based drug testing policy.
Superintendent Jerry House says no one saw the boy smoking pot, but teachers could smell the smoke. Because teachers keep track of who they let use the restroom, the number of possible suspects was narrowed down.
Other students confirmed school officials' suspicions, and after a pipe was found hidden on the playground, House says the boy confessed.
School officials contacted the boy's parents to get permission to do a drug test, but officials would not say if the boy was tested.
House says the boy and his parents have seen a counselor and the boy is still in school
