2018 MT High School Football - Week 6

Post by VimSince03 » Wed Sep 26, 2018 11:55 pm

Class AA

1.) Bozeman (5-0)
2.) Billings West (4-1)
3.) Helena High (4-1)
4.) Kalispell Flathead (4-1)
5.) Great Falls High (4-1)
6.) Billings Senior (3-2)
7.) Butte (2-3)
8.) Missoula Sentinel (2-3)
9.) Kalispell Glacier (1-4)
10.) Helena Capital (2-3)

Game(s) of the Week: Great Falls @ Helena High; Kalispell Flathead @ Bozeman

Player(s) of the Week (#5): DE Kenneth Eiden IV (Bozeman) - 13 tackles, 6 TFL's, 2 sacks (vs. Billings Senior)

Special Note: Kenneth is only a sophomore and he has 49 tackles and 13 sacks in 5 games. His most recent effort came primarily against Garrison Poetzl of Billings Senior. Very impressive for such a young kid and remember...Luke McEndoo (6'1", 235 lbs.) would be a sophomore and likely contributor on Bozeman's squad right now as well. Kenneth and Luke went to national camps together this past summer.

Class A

1.) Hamilton (5-0)
2.) Billings Central (5-0)
3.) Columbia Falls (4-1)
4.) Frenchtown (5-0)
5.) Dillon (3-1)
6.) Laurel (4-1)
7.) Belgrade (4-1)
8.) Lewistown (4-1)
9.) Corvallis (3-2)
10.) Whitefish (3-2)

Game(s) of the Week: Billings Central @ Belgrade; Hamilton @ Corvallis

Player(s) of the Week (#5): RB/LB Colten McPhee (Columbia Falls) - 16 touches for 177 yards and 6 total touchdowns (vs. Libby)

Special Note: Colten has followed up his exceptional junior season with a dominant senior season thus far. Leads his team in rushing, receiving, touchdowns scored, and tackles. Despite his 5'9" height, he is one of the top three linebackers in the entire state in my opinion.

Class B

1.) Fairfield (4-0)
2.) Bigfork (5-0)
3.) Roundup (4-0)
4.) Big Timber (4-0)
5.) Colstrip (4-1)
6.) Missoula Loyola (4-1)
7.) Eureka (3-2)
8.) Florence (4-1)
9.) Townsend (3-2)
10.) Huntley Project (3-2)

Game(s) of the Week: Fairfield @ Malta; Townsend @ Whitehall

Player(s) of the Week (#5): RB/S Ryan Tirrell (Missoula Loyola) - 216 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns (vs. Eureka)

Special Note: Ryan moved from OLB to SS in Missoula Loyola's defensive scheme his senior season and he has been exceptional. His closing speed from the LB position has translated nicely to the defensive backfield and his size makes him an imposing figure against any Class B offense. He also isn't too shabby running the football either. Despite some injuries, Ryan has put together an outstanding senior campaign and should be a Top 10 player by the end of the year in my rankings.

Class C (8-man)

1.) Drummond/Philipsburg (5-0)
2.) Fairview (5-0)
3.) Hobson/Moore/Judith Gap (5-0)
4.) Great Falls Central (5-0)
5.) Shelby (4-0)
6.) Charlo (4-1)
7.) Joliet (5-0)
8.) Centerville (5-0)
9.) Culbertson (5-0)
tie10.) Circle (4-1)
tie10.) Alberton/Superior (4-1)

Game(s) of the Week: Culbertson @ Fairview; Hobson/Moore/Judith Gap @ Joliet; Alberton/Superior @ Charlo

Player(s) of the Week (#5): QB/LB Landers Smith (Charlo) - 278 total yards (155 passing/123 rushing) for 6 total touchdowns (3 passing/3 rushing) along with 3 TFLs on defense (vs. Victor)

Special Note: Landers already has 21 touchdowns on the season (passing/rushing) and appears quicker as an athlete during his senior campaign. He has been one of the best players in 8-Man since he was a sophomore and nothing has stopped that notion during 2018. Over the past three years, this is by far Landers' worst supporting cast of offensive talent when, especially compared to Charlo's 2016 8-Man runner-up squad. But he continues to chug along and do nothing but keep his team competitive in the chase to catch Drummond/Philipsburg in 8-man (keep in mind that D/P already beat Charlo 52-8). I'll just say this, Landers' style of play reminds me of another famous 8-Man star...Mac Bignell.

Class C (6-man)

1.) Wibaux (5-0)
2.) Grass Range/Winnett (6-0)
3.) Geraldine/Highwood (4-1)
4.) Richey/Lambert (4-1)
5.) Westby/Grenora (4-1)
6.) Hot Springs (4-1)
7.) Bridger (4-1)
8.) White Sulphur Springs (4-1)
9.) West Yellowstone (4-1)
10.) Denton/Geyser/Stanford (4-1)

Game(s) of the Week: White Sulphur Springs @ West Yellowstone

Player(s) of the Week (#5): RB/LB Liam Laws (Geraldine/Highwood) - 4 rushing touchdowns (vs. Richey/Lambert)

Special Note: Geraldine/Highwood dropped a 38-40 decision to now #1 ranked Wibaux in Week 1 of the 2018 season. Since then, they have quietly been one of the most dominant teams in 6-Man behind the steady play of QB/S Brady Duvall and the bruising running of Liam Laws along with other contributors such as Zeke Davison and Rylan Bowman. It's a wide open race in 6-Man this year.

Big night for Grady Koenig of Helena High. 274 yards and 5 TDs vs. Great Falls High. Tied for second most TDs in a game and third most rushing yards in a game at HHS, right behind MSU great Delmar Jones.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Hadn't remembered that Delmar had gone to Helena High... Yes, some big shoes there.

Did I see that Fairfield-Augusta lost by forfeit?

No thats incorrect. Augusta is plating with Fairfield this year. Fairfiels beat Malta 42-6
Whoops, sorry. Looking through MaxPreps they showed a forfeit.
And last but not least my Park High Rangers "lost another squeaker"...
When I go into MaxPrep and go to Malta it shows the Fairfeild win. Then I go to Fairfield and it shows them defeating Malta on Friday and picking up a forfeit loss to Big Sandy on Saturday. Shows their W/L streak as 1L. MaxPreps might have confused some people there.
Sure do like all your hard work Vim. =D^

Haha they do their best. I'm actually surprised how well MaxPreps does for the small schools in Montana knowing how little information is passed along from those smaller towns/schools.
