2017 MT HS Football - Week 2

Post by VimSince03 » Thu Aug 31, 2017 3:11 pm

Class AA

1.) Billings Senior (1-0)
2.) Helena Capital (1-0)
3.) Kalispell Glacier (0-1)
4.) Helena High (1-0)
5.) Bozeman (1-0)
6.) Great Falls High (0-1)
7.) Missoula Big Sky (1-0)
8.) Kalispell Flathead (1-0)
9.) Missoula Sentinel (1-0)
10.) Butte (0-1)

Bottom four: Great Falls CMR, Billings Skyview, Billings West, Missoula Hellgate

Player of the Week (Week 1): Missoula Big Sky QB Levi Janacaro - 400 yards of total offense (285 yards rushing on 34 carries with 3 rushing touchdowns; 115 yards passing with 1 passing touchdown)

Game of the Week (Week 2): Kalispell Flathead at Helena Capital (Both won their Week 1 openers and Flathead is looking for a big win over a quality opponent); Helena at Billings Senior (If Helena wants to be considered a contender, they need to give Billings Senior a good game)

Class A

1.) Dillon (0-0)
2.) Sidney (1-0)
3.) Columbia Falls (0-0)
4.) Hamilton (1-0)
5.) Billings Central (1-0)
6.) Polson (0-0)
7.) Laurel (1-0)
8.) Miles City (0-1)
9.) Corvallis (1-0)
tie10.) Lewistown (0-1)
tie10.) Belgrade (0-1)

Co-Players of the Week (Week 1): Hamilton RB/WR Bridger Bauder - 258 total yards of offense (9 rushes for 176 yards with 1 touchdown; 3 catches for 82 yards; 1 punt return touchdown); Billings Central RB Ben Voss - 217 total yards of offense (28 rushes for 176 yards with 3 touchdowns; 3 catches for 41 yards)

Game of the Week (Week 2): Columbia Falls at Hamilton (Columbia Falls is looking to prove last season wasn't a one-hit wonder while Hamilton feels they should be in the conversation as one of the best teams in Class A); Sidney at Billings Central (Sidney looks like they haven't lost a beat from last year's Eastern A title team while Billings Central wants revenge on the Eagles in a big conference showdown); Dillon at Polson (Dillon looks to show how well they reloaded while Polson wants to prove the graduation of Matt Rensvold and Tanner Wilson doesn't have as big an impact as some expect)

Class B

1.) Huntley Project (1-0)
2.) Eureka (1-0)
3.) Colstrip (1-0)
4.) Fairfield (0-0)
5.) Missoula Loyola (0-1)
6.) Anaconda (1-0)
7.) Bigfork (1-0)
8.) Jefferson (1-0)
9.) Malta (0-0)
tie10.) Whitehall (1-0)
tie10.) Shelby (0-1)

In the hunt: Baker, Cut Bank, Glasgow, Manhattan, Townsend

Co-Players of the Week (Week 1): Huntley Project RB Lane Sumner - 234 rushing yards and two touchdowns; Anaconda QB Braxton Hill - 354 yards passing; 24 yards rushing; 6 touchdowns (5 passing/1 rushing)

Game of the Week (Week 2): Shelby at Missoula Loyola (Shelby QB Aaron White is a little dinged up but the Coyotes want to perform well against one of the better teams in the state while Loyola wants to get the bad taste of last week's loss out of their mouths); Anaconda at Bigfork (The Copperheads had a big win in Week 1 but need to refocus for an actual quality opponent in Bigfork in Week 2); Glasgow at Whitehall (I'm interested to see how Glasgow looks and I'm interested to see how Whitehall reacts to a Week 1 win over Shepherd)

Class C (8-man)

1.) Charlo (1-0)
2.) Ennis (1-0)
3.) Forsyth (1-0)
4.) Scobey (1-0)
5.) Belt (1-0)
6.) Fairview (1-0)
7.) Denton/Geyser/Stanford (1-0)
8.) Drummond/Philipsburg (1-0)
9.) Joliet (1-0)
tie10.) Choteau (1-0)
tie10.) Great Falls Central (1-0)

In the hunt: Hobson/Moore/Judith Gap, Circle, Lodge Grass, Victor, Darby, Lone Peak, Plains, Fort Benton, Cascade

Co-Players of the Week (Week 1): Scobey RB Riley Linder - 212 rushing yards with four touchdowns; Choteau QB Jonathon Moore - 279 total yards (197 rushing/82 passing) for one rushing touchdowns and one interception return for a touchdown

Game of the Week (Week 2): Denton/Geyser/Stanford at Lone Peak (Both teams had big Week 1 wins and want to keep the momentum going in Week 2)

Class C (6-man)

1.) Wibaux (1-0)
2.) Richey/Lambert (1-0)
3.) Westby/Grenora (1-0)
4.) Sunburst (1-0)
5.) Valier (0-0)
6.) Bridger (0-0)
7.) Grass Range/Winnett (1-0)
8.) Bainville (0-1)
9.) Geraldine/Highwood (0-0)
10.) West Yellowstone (1-0)

Player of the Week (Week 1): Wibaux QB Tel Lunde - 5 passing touchdowns/1 rushing touchdown

Game of the Week (Week 2): Westby/Grenora at Bridger (There are other intriguing games but this one is a semifinal rematch from last year's playoffs and both teams return talent)

Unless somebody got injured, I didn't think Huntley looked very good against Manhattan.

Manhattan QB has a really nice arm. Good size too.

First game and start for him too. To me, it means the East isn't as good as everyone thinks it is and Colstrip might be the best team in that conference. Or Manhattan is just very good.

Did anyone have a chance to see the Rocky Boy/Hays-Lodgepole game? Turned into a track meet. Has to be a record!!!
