Bozeman softball ends 65-game losing streak

By The Associated Press
BOZEMAN - The Bozeman High softball team ended its three-year, 65-game losing streak over the weekend with a 7-4 victory over Missoula Hellgate in Great Falls.

Pitcher Tessa Miller had three hits and three RBIs Friday to lead Bozeman to its first win since the 2006 season.

Coach Sam Vidal says the team celebrated like they won the World Series. He said breaking the losing streak was a big step for the program.

The Hawks' 65th consecutive loss was a 7-3 loss to Missoula Sentinel on Friday. In the final game of the triple-header, Missoula Big Sky beat Bozeman 12-5.

Good for them. I know Missoula Hellgate had a pretty long losing streak a couple of years ago, but nothing quite like that. If the Hawks play Hellgate next year, they'll probably get another win since this showed how much of a difference the one senior pitcher for the Knights makes to that team.
