Where will MSU and Cal Poly be ranked?

Post by Cal Poly Mustang » Sun Sep 19, 2004 3:44 pm

Anyone want to take a guess where Montana St, and Cal Poly will be ranked in the new poll? I'm hoping that Cal Poly will at least move up into the teens. I think MSU will fall into the late teens or early twenties.

Cal Poly should be ranked somewhere between 15 and 10. MSU should not be ranked at all at this point.

Cats one spot above Cal Poly :D That's how polls work. Thank God for the Playoffs. I'm thinking the Griz will be playing Cal Poly in the first round of the playoffs.

I don't think Cal Poly can play in playoffs can they? Isn't there a 5 year wait or something like that when a team moves up or joins a conference? Maybe Cal Poly is excempt because they have been in 1-AA? Anyone know the answer on that one?

Cal Poly is eligible for the playoffs, but their league doesn't have an automatic bid. MSU used the automatic bid to get in the past two years, while MSU's win over the friz may have eliminated CP last season. The new D1 teams, Dakotas, UNC, UCD won't be eligible for a while. I think they're a football only conference? That will leave them almost no chance to get into the NCAA basketball tournaments, unless they're in some other well established league, as CPU might be.

How can someone justify giving the Hampton Pirates a first place vote? They're 3 and 0 against teams that are a combined 2 and 7. That was a homer vote if I've ever seen one.
