Griz Soccer Coach Fired for Inappropriate Behavior

Post by PapaG » Thu Feb 01, 2018 10:31 pm

The article as you read further into it reads of a UM athletic department that simply did not take the claims of their student-athletes seriously. Of all schools, UM is doing this stuff AGAIN?

Read the entire article. I'd like to know the thoughts of others. I read a bit about it on egriz just to get the Griz fans' takes, but as expected, it's some conspiracy by The Missoulian and I'll assume they also think these young women have been lying over the years about him?

Then you didn't really look on egriz at all did you. Almost every post mentions poor handling by Haslam regarding how he framed the dismissal and kudos to the Missoulian for following up and getting the truth. But that doesn't fit your narrative.

You’ll have to excuse PapaG. He thought it was as the football coach not the futbol coach.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

The few I read were posters complaining about the Missoulian, but reading further now that more posters have chimed in, I still don't see what I thought I'd see, which is what appears to be the complaints of some players, as the article says "over the years," falling on deaf ears at UM. I mean, duh, the coach should be fired for the complaints of inappropriate behavior, not some texts in Vegas.

I hope I'm wrong about it, but firing him over what is actually legal in texting escort numbers as opposed to further investigating the claims of his touching players' legs and acting inappropriately around them doesn't smell right. Granted, there isn't a whole lot of information out there, but Haslam saying they won't investigate further is a huge red flag if I'm the NCAA, especially at a school with the recent history of UM in handing these sort of things.

Damn! I was down that road with a high school coach and a young female relative of mine many years ago.
The fact that he still breaths air is a testament to my ability to let Karma deal the appropriate justice to him rather than me taking matters into my own hands.
Last I heard he was living a life of hell on earth, and I'm ok with that.
May former coach Plakorus meet with the same fate.

That's as tame as I can state my feelings on that matter.

However, it's against UM Policy to use a UM Paid for phone to text escorts.

That is my feelings about it as well. I hope the work the Missoulian did to expose this makes this SOB unemployable and he has get by getting paid to get on his knees...if you know what I mean.

By chance was he the girls' BB coach at a Billings HS in the late 1980s? If so I know exactly who it is and I know a few of his victims, and what he did was much worse than what the Griz coach is being accused of doing. All awful, but that Billings stuff was nasty. I randomly saw that coach the next year after he finally got chased out of Billings because I was working at Universal Athletic Service for the summer in Helena (parents moved from Billings to Helena the summer after I graduated from West) and he walked into the store looking for something or the other. He saw me, looked like he saw a ghost, and got right the hell out of the store. I played hoops at that BIllings HS and was very familiar with him since he'd open the gym on weekends and we'd all play pick-up games.

Actually, check your PM!
