I don't buy that we can't expect to become a legit NC contender without offering FCOA. I have to believe that many of the top FCS programs aren't yet on board with that.

The flip side is if you're an FCS school and recruit some duds or have a coaching change and switch playing styles, you're stuck with those players at least financially, and lack the huge scholarship budgets to absorb the costs.

Only if offering multi-year scholarships. If scholarships, like other merit aid, are offered on a year-to-year basis, the duds could be cut loose.
