Re: FCS Semifinal weekend
Since we get to play SDSU again next year, I'm glad Goddert is a senior.
Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14.

JMU scores TD in about 40 seconds. 9 secs left and JMU up 21-10. JMU gets ball to start second half.

There haven't been many penalties. So they probably haven't got any wrong. Must just be missing them all.BleedingBLue wrote:How in the hell did a BSC crew get a national semifinal???

Re: FCS Semifinal weekend
I saw two calls that were possibly iffy... The PI just before the first half ended that might have given jmu the chance for the score just before the half...I only watched the first half. And as if it made a difference.catscat wrote:There haven't been many penalties. So they probably haven't got any wrong. 9 turnovers by SDSU mid-fourth. I'm a bit surprised it's only 51-16!
So far, no surprises in the final four. I'm still taking the Bizon in the championship. But it should be epic on a neutral field.

Re: FCS Semifinal weekend
It seems pretty clear that JMU and NDSU are the 2 best teams in the country this year. It should be a great game but my money is on the Bison. Weber gave JMU their only close game in the playoffs, and could have easily beaten them. You could probably make a case for them being the 3rd best team in the nation, and they beat us by only one score.

Re: FCS Semifinal weekend
They ended up with 10 turnovers and JMU outgained them by more than 100 yards too. As you said, it's almost surprising that the score wasn't even more of a blowout looking at those stats.Bobcat4Ever wrote:9 turnovers by SDSU mid-fourth. I'm a bit surprised it's only 51-16!

Wow. And I thought 5 int's from bleskin in the 2014 cat/griz was bad. 10 turnovers is unheard of! I can't remember the last time I saw a double digit turnovers total from one team in a game...John K wrote:They ended up with 10 turnovers and JMU outgained them by more than 100 yards too. Re: FCS Semifinal weekend
I think the Bills had double digit turnovers against the Cowboys in one of their SB losses. The game where Leon Lett was going in for a touchdown after recovering a fumble and a Bills player (I think it was Don Beebe) poked the ball out of his hands right before he crossed the goal line. Also, I believe one of UM's opponents in a playoff game had 10 turnovers. It might have been that game they had the epic comeback against SDSU. Those are the only 2 games I can think of (that I've seen)where a team had double digit turnovers.grizzh8r wrote:Wow. Cowboys got nine turnovers vs Bills. Griz got ten vs Stephen F Austin in 2009 playoffs the week after the SDSU comeback.

Re: FCS Semifinal weekend
I hate the long layoff between the semi-finals and championship game. I much preferred it, when the season was wrapped up before Christmas. I know that's just not possible, ever since they added an extra round and expanded the field beyond 16 teams. But honestly, I wish they'd trim it back to 16 again, so they could finish before Christmas, although I know that won't happen. I really enjoy following the playoffs...much better than watching all the meaningless FBS bowl games, but the excitement and momentum sorta gets stalled when you know they won't be playing the NC game for three weeks. It seems sorta ironic that the powers that be in FBS are so reluctant to expand their playoffs beyond 4 teams, which I'm in favor of 100%, while FCS has 24 teams, which is really too many in my opinion.

Nice how the Frisco Bowl had less than 15k and the FCS Game tickets will be scarce with over 18k in attendance.
Looking for reservations for MSU in Frisco in 2019.
