Griz Record 2018

Post by catatac » Thu Nov 30, 2017 3:00 pm

Many in GrizNation think Bobby is the instant fix and they'll be right back on top of the Big Sky and playoff bound in 2018. I would be very, very surprised if that happens. Will probably take a couple years for Bobby to get his pieces in place despite what GrizNation wants to believe. Much tougher schedule for the Griz in 2018.

UNI - L
Drake - W
At Western Illinois - L
Sac State - W (Not easy by any means)
At Cal Poly - L (CP had a down year in 2017 but Griz usually struggle at SLO)
PSU - W (Not a gimmie)
At North Dakota - W (Not sure why I'm giving them this one, UND may be back to being powerful in 2018 with a healthy team)
UC Davis - W
At Southern Utah - L
At Idaho - W (This could be a brutal game for them, UI has been competing against teams way better than UM)
MSU - L (Just don't see them stopping us as they couldn't do it in Choate's and Murray's first two years)

I see five losses here, maybe more. 7-4 would pretty much be a best case scenario for them?

Almost, except:
Drake loses in OT
Sac State by 3 in last minute field goal.
PSU's only win next year
Idaho wins by 24 in Kibbie dome

2-9

Over under on felonies committed is 6.5

You forgot to mention that AlphaGriz1 will get his 3rd and 4th disorderly conducts before he hits 50. These issues will obviously stem from others' injustices to UM football.

Didn't see this thread, I posted this in the He's Baaack thread:

I wonder what happens when the Griz start 1-3 next year:

Sep 1 UNI at home, tough game.
Sep 8 Drake at home, classic UM cupcake.
Sep 15 @ Western Illinois, very tough game on the road.
Sep 22 Sac State at home, Sac ain't no slouch.

There is a decent chance they Griz go 1-3, I see at best 2-2.

Problem is their Big Sky schedule after that is softer than a baby's buttocks. Poly on the road (W), PSU home (W), UND road (how will UND rebound?) (tossup), Davis home (W), SUU road (L), Idaho road (tossup), Cats home (tossup).

I think the worst finish for the Griz next year is 4-7, but 7 or 8 wins is pretty attainable with that conference schedule.

The only gimme games are Drake and Poly. Davis played well at times.

I think Griz fans are in for a tough season. Roster doesn't have the personal that BH likes for the offense.

Injuries hurt Cal Poly this year. Maybe they get that fixed for next year. Cal Poly always seems tougher at home than on the road.

Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14.

Ya, I don't think Cal Poly will be a cupcake for anyone in the Big Sky next year, especially the Griz *Who have historically struggled against them), especially in SLO.

From another post:

I like to look at it in blocks of wins, losses, and 50-50 games:

Wins:
Drake
Sac St
Cal Poly
PSU
UC Davis

Losses:
WIU (mvfc playoff team on road)

50-50:
UNI (mvfc playoff team at home who struggles with Griz)
UND (probably more healthy and on road)
SUU (playoff team on road)
Idaho (old rival on road coming off FBS)
MSU (all records go out window)

So I see 5 wins for sure, then 1 loss for sure, then 5 different 50-50 games. If they can win at least 2 of those (which I believe they will) I'm seeing a 7-4 team. I think they'll get their 1 or 2 quality wins this time too making them a 7-4 playoff team.

What's your similar breakdown for Cats.

Quite the optimistic view. They'll lose at least one of the games you have in the win column.

best case you have 4 losses

Give Hauck credit whether you like it or not (and I personally enjoy trolling coaches like Spurrier was, Kiffin and Harbaugh are now) but Hauck will at least have his teams disciplined. He won't tolerate holding or procedure penalties inside the 20 by any lineman, his special teams won't screw up more than one game, and they'll be focused and motivated and chippy penalties that cost a defense will see that kid on the sideline if it costs the defense from several stops and games.

I think they at least make the semis next year. Great returning talent and he knows how to recruit, even if he has to hide behind the couch...

I think you mean 2018, because 2017 is not in your favor if you wanna talk cupcakes.

And, isn't Drake a non-scholarship team?

You are correct! Another Griz troll who has no idea what he is talking about. Drake also had losses to South Dakota 77-7 and South Dakota State 51-10 this year.

He’ll also have players in jail, the campus and community on lockdown, first round losses, and no big wins. I take that back he did win one big game at James Madison. I have no confidence in this guy’s ability to function as a head coach for any team out of middle school. I doubt we make the playoffs and I think under .500 is more likely than a playoff game.

No. Iowa, W. Illinois, S. Utah, Idaho and MSU are 90%+ losses.
UC Davis, Sac St., and N. Dakota are 50/50.
Poly, Drake and PSU are probably wins, but Poly can turn it around fast.

We’ll go 6-5 at best. I’m guessing 5-6/4-7.
