Valparaiso vs. um

Post by catscat » Sat Sep 02, 2017 2:15 pm

Midway through the second quarter, Valpo leads the griz 13-10. Go Valpo!!

Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14.

griz TD makes it 17-13 at the half. Thought I heard the announcers say that Valparaiso was picked to be at the bottom of the Pioneer conference. Doesn't bode well for the griz that they aren't up by 20 at the half. Valpo giving them all they want, but may fade as the game goes on due to lack of depth.

Not sure if Valpo is better than advertised. Or griz is not as good.

Interesting game

I'm guessing some (or maybe lots) of each.

What a dick comment by Delaney about (paraphrasing) "the fans in Bozeman not coming back into the stadium after halftime because they're always losing". That was totally uncalled for. What a douche. And Griz fans can't understand why we hate them so much.

Yep, and the griz don't have a very good record of sticking around whether they are winning or losing. Listening to Byers talk about the Montana talent the fizz have recruited almost made me puke.

fizz manage to win 45-23.

Know nothing about Delaney but I thought he was more classy than that.
And also not sure about Valpo, thought they were almost bottom feeders in their group. But they put up 440ish yards on the team that invented football. griz had something like 530/540 yards, not really chopped liver. So will see what comes down the pike next week...Valpo with 440ish yards makes it look like next week could be a problem.

I believe I heard that Valpo was picked for 10th place in the non-schollie Pioneer League. I don't know how many schools are in that conference, but that has to be at or near the very bottom. I think they were 4-7 last year. Yeah, I thought that was a little out of character for Delaney too. I was very disappointed that he stooped to making such a classless comment. And there was absolutely no reason for him to say it, except just being a dick. It just goes to show you that even the less douchey Griz are still pretty douchey.

I doubt it's the former. Valpo is 22-90 in the last decade after today's game, and hasn't had a winning season since 2003.

Don't believe that is the case. But it was an interesting game.

Valpo just got beat by a team that South Dakota State hammered and put up 56 points against. It looks like Savannah State is about the same quality as Valpo. The grizzly will be 2 and 1 after playing two cream puffs.

Savannah State lost to Appalachian State 54-7. SSU had 119 rushing, 37 passing for a total of 4 first downs. The Grizzlies might have a chance in this one.

According to the Massey computer ratings for FCS only, here is what we have:

South Dakota State 4/124
Montana 28/124
Montana State 41/124
Savannah State 104/124
Valparaiso 119/124

Those last two look suspiciously like cupcakes.
