For those that don't care for FB Officials
This from today's Grambling/North Carolina Central bowl game.....
I am not a big fan of some of the celebrating but come on ref... I am from the Marcus Allen school of scoring touchdowns. Still, this sounds so petty.

It was petty. That was some bull****.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Ya, I agree it's petty. But removal of a helmet is clearly defined in the rules. The officials have no choice in the matter so you can't blame them.

I agree. Every year you see kids get flagged for this and you see turnovers for dropping the ball before the endzone. I keep asking myself at what point and after how many examples do you just hold the ball and leave your helmet on???tdub wrote:Ya, I agree it's petty. Also agree that the rules say don't remove your helmet. I am guessing he was just so excited the a TD had been scored.
Now it looks like Elliot from the Cowboys is being fined for jumping into the Salvation Army bucket after a score. He has said he will match the fine and give the match to the Salvation Army.

Am I'm sure the kid was excited, and every single thing he did to show that emotion was fine...except for taking off his helmet, which is totally unnecessary. But if an official excuses something blatantly against the rule because a kid is excited, then how many other things can be excused because of excitement?
Like I said, it is petty, but you can't blame officials for having to enforce a rule. Heck, that official may even think it's petty but that doesn't matter.

Rules are rules. It was a blatant violation during a celebration. No problem with the penalty being called, as long as it has been called consistently all year (no idea).
