Vernon Adams listed as starter
First depth chart has VA listed as the starter. September 5th should be interesting.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Probably a good decision by Oregon. VA has played against the EWU defense for four years. If he isn't the regular season starter you don't have to worry about injuries and it also gives them a good chance to evauluate him in their offense. Will be a fun game to follow. I am sure EWU would love to win the game.

Adams is the starter until he loses the job or gets hurt. The Ducks take their depth chart seriously. That said, I'm excited to see what Adams can do with elite FBS talent against an FCS school. The Ducks have at least 4 NFL receivers on the roster.

Throw in Royce Freeman at RB and a deep o-line, and watch out!

Stanford is a boss. I'm going to enjoy watching that combo.

Re: Vernon Adams listed as starter
Is anyone actually surprised by this? Oregon didn't bring him in to be a backup, and VA wouldn't have transferred, unless he had a strong expectation that he'd be the starter. He torched the Pac-12 teams that he played while at EWU, and there's no reason to think that he won't also be very good for Oregon this season.CatBlitz wrote:First depth chart has VA listed as the starter. I guess I'm a little bit surprised, from the standpoint that he just started practicing with the team maybe two weeks ago. I figured he'd eventually be the starter, once he had a chance to get comfortable in the offense, and Lockie started the first few games.John K wrote:Is anyone actually surprised by this? There was plenty of talk that they would start Lockie against ewoo until Vernon got the playbook down. But I guess he progressed quickly. It makes sense to put VA in vs. the eagles since he basically played against them for 4 years.

I'm interested in what other people think about this. Do you want VA to succeed or get destroyed? Personally I'm hoping he does well. I think it looks good for the BSC and FCS football. I'm not a fan of the Ducks or Eastern Washington but if he does well I think it shows the talent level at least at the top end of FCS football is pretty good. Also I think it was a gutsy move on VA's part to transfer and I like to pull for the guy is not afraid to take a chance and try some thing new.

Doesn't bother me. Think I would understand if he were the Cat QB and did the same. Nice opportunity.

I'm absolutely rooting for him to succeed. For one thing, I don't believe that he's really as big of a d-bag as some people seem to think he is. And as you say, it will speak well for the quality of football that's played in the BSC, and the FCS as a whole.Long Time Cat wrote:I'm interested in what other people think about this.
