Griz Scrimmage

Post by Robcat » Fri Mar 18, 2005 10:30 am

Billings Gazette had a small article on the first Griz scrimmage. They only mention one QB and he is a freshman. Where is their big stud? Lex had 47 yards in 7 carries and really no mention of the passing game. Whats going on?

Read the Missoulian on-line for a more comprehensive article. They had reporter Fritz Neighbor on site. The Gazette just pulls it off the wire and truncates.

The Bowling Green player (Jason Washington) was stuck behind a 1st team all-league quarterback at Bolwing Green that was the same year (Soph last year). The all-league guy threw for 4,000 yards last year, so Washington was expecting very little if any playing time for his entire career at Bowling Green. Washington's 2004 stats were:

2004: Played in eight games ... 39 yards passing while completing 3-of-7 attempts ... has also rushed for 42 yards and a TD, including a 24-yard TD run versus Temple.

Prior To BGSU:A transfer from Long Beach City College ... threw for 1,790 yards and 11 TDs ... also rushed for 350 yards and had a quarterback rating of 107.3 for Long Beach.

High School: A 2001 graduate of St. Mary's College High School ... threw for 1,200 yards and 11 TDs as a senior ... also earned All-League Honorable Mention ... earned two letters in baseball

I heard from one of the Griz players that the Bowling Green kid is a let down. Transfers don't always pan out. I am happy, because I hate the Griz! :P

With you on that one Mike  ! That is the thing about drop downs though, you never really know what you're getting. I have high hopes for our new wideout from WSU, but until we get a chance to see him in practice and then games we'll never know. Early word is that he's fast, now can he run routes and catch balls?
